His attention stepped back as he gave Josephine the gentle encouragements and the needed understanding of just what was needed for Kamala. He could have stepped in and brought her over but he was always loathe to share the burden of just what he had to manage day in day out. The level of control to ensure that the full truth of his being didn't escape him wasn't something he would force on another. Eyes filtered between the two women, turning to stop and rest upon his wife. He knew that she never quite managed to work right with the various scrolls of transport that were offered to their kind and despite that she was preforming admirably for what was otherwise a very poor situation that they had found themselves within.

He felt it in the undercurrent of the energy around them. That stirring in her even before those eyes cracked open. Eyes tightened as that grip clung to his wife and the frenzy took hold. He could have reached out and snuffed the monster from control but this was Josephine's place. She needed to set the state, to take the dominate hold in the change and how Kamala was shifting into her new life. Fingers reached back to rest upon the arms of his chair so very close to the fire. His body falling down into the plush comfort as he watched, waited and with little effort his voice raised to guide once more.

"This is where you set the boundaries, Josephine. You need to exercize control over her actions. You need to bring her down to your understanding. As she is now, she doesn't understand boundaries, limitations, you will need to teach those things to her. Otherwise every time she feeds, should the food be mortal she'll kill." His voice was oddly empty, as he explained these simple truths. Things he had to learn the hard way, without guidance, and trial and error until he himself finally figured out the limits, the boundaries. That invisible line where life could be sustained or simply snuffed out like one would a candle.

The fire crackled to his left. His body movement slow as he added more wood to fireplace. His actions there to express his lack of threat to the newly turned. Though he wouldn't have struggled in repelling her should she had turned to him. Fingers gripped the rough chopped wood and added another log, "Draw her away, Josephine. Forcefully if you must."

The moment Kamala's fangs latched into her wrist Josephine gave a little hiss. Her fangs flashed in that moment in a breath of aggression. Instinct to protect herself and defend overriding the want to create and aid. A reason why their population stayed so low; by nature they were a selfish species. Her fingers rose to curl in Kamala's hair, tightening near the base as she fought the urge to rip her flesh away from the vicious assault of her flesh and the steady drain of her blood.

"Nothing is wrong. You are hungry. Pull back Kammie" She forced her voice to remain neutral even as Kael spoke of teaching her limits and boundaries. Spoke of teaching Kamala how to find control and balance. How could Josephine teach what she, herself, did not have? Why she was afraid to feed from the source because she had yet to find a way to draw that line. Her fingers loosened in the woman's hair turning to stroking soothingly. Later Kammie would learn to feed without causing pain. When need became habit rather than a burning desire. When Kamala had learned how to ignore the continued gnawing need that never was fully sated.

A little nod given to her mate and his words as she allowed the woman to feed a little more. To take the strength needed to make the transition fully and remain whole at the end. The difference between becoming a vampire and a thrall. A breath passed her lips then a hiss as Kamala's feed buried deeper into her flesh and fang ground against tendon and muscle.

"I will try. My control is tenuous at best, Kael..." A wince escaped Josephine even as a hiss of pain had her free hand moving from stroking hair to pressing against the pressure point of Kamala's jaw. Quick work to rescue her masicated wrist from the newly risen childe. The once smooth flesh was torn, ragged from fang and teeth bearing into it. Already healing over as the shallower wounds started to seal up. The miracles of vampirism; the restorative nature of flesh.

"Enough Kam.. You have had enough." Josephine uttered firmly, put her will into the words and held to that bond between them. Her childe. Her friend. Hands rose, the mangled one not flexing correctly, to cup against the woman's face. Josephine's brow lowered to press against the litle Hindu goddess' in steadying comfort.

"Steady now. Focus on me. Focus on Kael and on the room. Put everything else out of your mind" The older vampire coaxed. A gentle mantra to help the woman escape the burning need of the Thirst. Tricks Josephine used to ignore that constant steady presence that lingered in the back of her mind.

Kamala didn't want to pull back. Her hunger was intense and Josephine's wrist was giving her what she wanted so why would she give it up. At first Josephine trying to coax her off was not working. She latched a bit harder because she wasn't interested in letting go of the one thing that was dousing the fire in her. It was the worst hunger she had ever felt, the need so strong it was near all consuming.

"Enough Kam.. You have had enough." The words budged her will harder than she wanted and with Josephine's hand at her jaw pressing, her mouth relinquished hold. It wasn't like she couldn't listen to Josephine and it made her snarl, a sound far from usual from the mild mannered Indian woman. Soft hands touched her face, if the one did seem to not hold her face quite right. Josephine's forehead on hers, made Kamala look at her friend. Mouth stained red from the blood she had hastily taken from her maker and friend. Tongue running over newly given pointy teeth to grasp what little of the magic elixir that was tempering her need.

"Steady now. Focus on me. Focus on Kael and on the room. Put everything else out of your mind" Josie's words caressed her like that gentle binding she had felt earlier when she was dying. Eyes moved from Josephine to Kael who was in a reclined pose in his plush chair as if this was just a normal day when they were all hanging out playing some sort of board game rather than the fact she was filled with a burning desire to drain her friend dry. The still of the room, the calm though helped. No one moving too suddenly and Josie holding her. "How'd I get here?" she asked in ragged voice.

A single rolled bit of parchment was extracted from his inner coat pocket. He waved it in her direction before sitting it down on his desk. A scroll of Teleportation, an answer to the question and yet she couldn't understand the answer. Couldn't understand the difference between life and what she now had. Magic and all it's wonders, wolves, demons, all manner of newness in a world that likely was so very mundane turned upside down and shaken a few times. He couldn't help but draw his lips into that trademark little smirk of his. He shifted, leaning forward as his knees took the weight of his elbows as he leaned down towards her. "Ever seen the Matrix?" He uttered, the pop culture reference one he had used before, it was a good analogy. Red pill, blue pill? Just how far down the rabbit hole? Yet she didn't get to pick, it was chosen for her and there was so very many new things to learn and take in.

Control, it all came down to that so simple and yet so devilishly difficult concept. She a fledgling would have none. Josephine at times lacked it, and yet for him, for what he was it was an absolute need. He couldn't get by without it, lest another desert form upon the planet, and there were already plenty of dead zones all across the globe. A hand reached out to tap the scroll. "I bet you if you opened that scroll, and imagined where you wished to be you could get there. Magic right?" he offered a bit dully, and yet there was a note of nonchalance there. As if that utterance of the scroll was true, every day for him, in which it was.

"Just like Aladdin offered Jasmine, there is a whole new world out there, shining shimmering splendid. And yet with all that is new, there is downsides. Balance always needs to be maintained. Welcome to your first day among us, and yet there will be so many ahead of you. Death brought about life, a dangerous cycle. Fortunately you are Kindred, European strain to be precise. The rules will be more lax, easier to cope with. However going forward your well being will be in my hands, and that of your Sire. You should thank Josephine, thank her, possibly curse her, but without her you would be dead. You would rot in a box, you would ultimately be forgotten. She chose to give you another option. Another lease on life so to speak. Only this is a new one, you can't have your old one back." Fingers took that scroll in hand, before tucking it away once more. "Though I dare say you should be asking why Josephine can heal as quickly as she is..." He uttered, drawing his attention to something on the desk before him. Fingers drew over his laptop a moment, checking stocks, business plans, every day life just kept rolling forward.

Bad science fiction movies and Disney? That is how Kael decided he would explain being a vampire? The expression she shot him was a mixture of bemusement and nausea as she worked through the side effects that magic had on her. The scrolls of various movement always left her sick; as if her inner ear was still very human and very oriented towards the mundane. At least she was no longer heaving but instead left focusing on the one point in her vision and just breathing slowly; which for her species meant very little at all.

Her wrist healed to pristine fresh skin by the time Kael was done speaking. Only a few streaks of blood stained it. The vital fluid already drying and itching a her skin until she absently rubbed the flesh against her skirt to flake it away. Knew better to scratch it with her nails that closer reflected claws as her own beast pushed nearer to the surface. Fought with those slow little breaths to keep her sickness down and away until finally her stomach stopped rolling enough that she braved speaking.

"Hollywood isn't right.. nor are the myths precise." Her voice was soft, small, as she spoke almost pensively. "Despite Kael's flare for the dramatic, he is correct. You are no longer human Kam. There is no going down that yellow brick road or wizard to help you escape Oz. What you are feeling now... you will get used to. It never goes away. That hunger will always be there but it is controllable. In time"

Josephine paused. Those honey colored eyes filled with regret and sorrow. Lips for a moment tightened as shoulders curved inwards. Slumped into a posture of quiet grief and penitent apology. Another life she had stolen from the mundane for her lack of action. Another innocent’s blood on her hands that she would have to shape into the monster she had become near a decade ago. A childe leading a childe; yet what was done could not be undone.

"I am sorry. There was no saving you outside of what I did. The internal injuries were too severe and you would have died in truth before the trauma team arrived. I couldn't let him just snuff you out.. not like that." The soft confession made even as her mate's attentions turned back to his stocks and portfolios. Another day of an international business vampire. Her hand lifted to stroke along the back of Kamala's. Offering the comfort in the tactile. Waiting for the woman to reject her; to shove her away for having made her this.

Josephine waited for the loathing that would come, perhaps not intentional, for having been made into something monstrous. For having stolen Kamala's potential futures for this one set path. She waited for that and had resigned herself to that rejection. Resolved herself to not showing the pain such would inflict for losing a friend she desperately needed.

"There is much to learn. We have to return to our home city soon and I will teach you what I can before then. Kael will help; though he is above our mundane needs." A flicker of a smile teased her lips as she taunted her mate subtly. Her gaze turned to Kael for a moment drinking him in. Adoration there before it turned to a calm and distant mask; veiled before he turned to look upon her and catch that gaze.

"Strength comes with age and you will learn as you go to sense those under currents. I am sorry, for whatever it is worth, Kamala. For making that choice for you"

Stomach rolled with nausea from both the fact she had shredded her friend's wrist but also from what now sloshed around in her stomach. Kamala was 99.9% sure that blood was not on a vegetarian's diet which made her want to vomit even more. Kael talked at her and it only served to confuse her more. Why was he spinning tales of fantasy worlds and young adult novels. Words of death, sorrow and myth.... but she wasn't dead, was she? She felt like she vaguely remembered dying and some brand of agony but yet here she sat in the Cartigan household feel sick but not deathly.

Kamala shook her head as Josephine tried to clarify and in that moment a little seed sprouted of understanding. Whatever happened back at that penthouse flat made her not entirely her anymore and for whatever reason that left Josephine apologizing for saving her. Touch that was once friendly and perhaps a touch loving was now tentative and frightened that it was no longer welcome. She watched that hand stroking her own mournfully and she shook her head. "None of this really makes sense but don't be sorry..."

Those were the best words Kamala could offer her friend as she simply sat there trying to piece back together from the moment those roses shattered on the wall to how she landed here in Kael and Josephine's home hearing about creatures of the night. It was all a blur, no matter how she tried hard to put every puzzle part back into it's rightful place to make her world whole again. In the silence she realized she had told Josephine not to be sorry but hadn't ever mentioned the fact that it was her dearest friend actions which had saved her. Softly she whispered as she leaned against Josephine, feeling so very weary, "Thank you for coming, pussycat..."
