The locks obscure blue eyes set under dark lashes that stare unblinkingly at what lays around him. The stubble along the line of his jaw is minimal as he has returned to shaving semi-regularly.

SCARS:

A savage, violent bite-wound cover his right shoulder with pearl-like ribbons of raised flesh. There are several similar marks on his back. The bicep of his left arm looks as if the skin was flayed off, like a desperate and painful removal of some sort. There is another brutal scar on his chest from a homemade transplant.

The patch of newly grown skin on his half-limb itched. Deston didn't touch it. His only hand was occupied. His entire arm, really. It had become a pillow for a young man's blond head, and he was silently sifting his fingers through the messy hair at the dark roots. The strands hugged at his fingers the way the thin arms had hugged around his waist.
He smiled.
He couldn't help but smile over at the mess of a man and feel that light, fluttery feeling in his chest. That love had grown wings and threatened to fly out his mouth.
He shifted carefully, making sure none of the furry bodies around them fell off the bed, and set his lips against a pale temple.
A chorus of howls began at their feet.

Focusing on the past is a waste.

He felt exhilarated, unstable. His very being was slipping through his own fingers, and everything he had fought for decades to keep buried was bubbling up to the surface.
He'd become like a pot of boiling water; his blood-lust was frothing over the edge of his sanity. Deston didn't want to think. He didn't want to remember why the noises made him uncomfortable when the bones snapped beneath his hands. He just wanted the blood to cover them. To cover him in the sweet, sticky filth of a life ended.
Dead eyes stared up at him, and he painted the ground beneath her head a grimy seascape.
“Do you see me?” No one sees you. You're not worth the attention from a maggot.
Her broken jaw formed no words. He deflated as his face heated up.

TIMELINE:

1920's - 2011

Is born to Malcolm and Eunice Clarc.
Everett is born.
Raises and protects his brother from their increasingly abusive mother.
Learns to quote the Bible, front to back, from being locked in the closet with it.
Stops speaking for several years.
Is drafted for WWII, brother Everett joins him.
Makes friends with brothers in arms, survives conflict.
Never truly returns from overseas.
Discovers his brother is gay.
Realizes he has fallen in love with his brother.
Is dragged out of bed by drunken townsmen and his mother. Both he and Everett are attacked and beaten on the lawn for their sexuality (his lack of).
Everett dies.
Deston murders his mother and father, sits them at the dinner table. Goes on about life like it hadn't changed.
Stench of rotting flesh alerts neighbors. One takes a shine to Deston, convinces him to stay with her until the cops stop looking. Meets Irene.
Is drugged heavily while staying with Irene. Becomes her “blood puppet” and undergoes torture until his fragile mental state gives out.
Irene turns him to keep him from dying during her “play” (torture).
Hunters find and stake Irene.
In a moment of sobriety, Deston flees the commune she had created to the basement of an old friend's home.
Alma is born; he is named her god father.
Sleeps.

2012

Moves to Ravenblack.
Befriends Edith.

Meets and befriends Fabian.

Sleeps periodically and for long stretches.

2013

Dates Serenity.

Sleeps.

Breaks up with Serenity.
