Closure of the Ferrymen
Voices of reason and wisdom, and a little (okay a lot) of sass. My condolences for the loss I am sure you feel - the both of you really. Ferry, through thick and thin, do have a legacy and I know you, along with ophelia, helped to build and shape it.
Ferry, as they say, thanks for the memories.

Always around for silent company if you need it, Vex.
Condolences for this difficult decision. Cheers to a future of growth, and of bigger and better things.

I know that my time leading Ferry was merely a blip on the radar compared to the years it stood open. I'm not sure I have the right to feel anything about this decision, but such as it is, we cannot control how we feel. I'm not sure I have anything coherent to express what it is I do feel, something like the full spectrum of possible emotions at the moment. Ferry holds both the very best memories I have ever had in this city, and the very worst memories.
Not that either of you need or even want my opinion on this decision, but I'll tell you that I do have the faith in the experience and tenure you both have in this city to know, if there was any better way, you'd have found it. Sometimes letting something go, is the best service you can provide it, even if it sucks.
The death of clans in the city scares me some, I won't deny that. Having been a founding member of D'dary, and the life breathed into me live fighting and rolling up on enemies with my family, and having led Ferrymen, a clan, and all the responsibility that comes with, I have always truly believed that this city requires both to really thrive. One way should never be the only way. So I will second Vex's hope that others take up the mantle to see this reality come to pass. The playing field is wide open for new generations of leaders and master vampires to *build* their visions, whether it be a clan or a lineage.

Vex and ophelia, thank you for putting your best into The Ferrymen and for your tireless attempts to salvage this building block of our City. You’ve both poured your hearts into this clan, trying to revive and rejuvenate it, and I know the decision to close was not made lightly.
I wish you both, and every former Ferrymen, the strength and grace to move forward in this City and find purpose with those you hold dear. Change is the wheel that moves the City forward, and we must move with it in order to survive.
The strength of The Ferrymen shall never truly die for those who lived it, for those who remember, and for those who hold the ideals upon which the clan was founded. Every time a drink is purchased in a pub in attempt to locate a shop or a guild, the spirit of The Ferrymen will live on. Each time a map is updated with a new lair or building, the River Styx will be fed. Although the doors to this great clan have closed, those who hold its true purpose will carry its legacy forever.

In their infancy, a clan starts as an ideal; a concept of this vision that exists within someone on how the city should comport itself. Then comes the blood, sweat, and tears as this vision is brought to life. There are successes and failures along the way, but each of these things ends up merging into this entity that has been brought to life. At some point, that clan becomes its own entity separate and apart from that vision that was born within someone’s head, but that link never truly breaks. Throughout the course, others add pieces of themselves, and their own links are formed interwoven within this entity that now practically lives and breathes on its own. The life cycle occurs and at some point, the clan takes its last breath. To most, it was just a thing, but to those whose visions were put to life, it can be like losing a child.
I was never in Ferrymen. I don’t have a personal emotion attached to its closure. However, the moment The Republic closed its eyes and took its final breath was indelibly etched into my psyche forever and so I understand.
ophelia, Annabelle, Pea, Vex: I am so sorry for your loss and what you are feeling right now is completely normal.
To all the former Ferrymen who moved through its walls with grace and good faith: The Ferrymen may be gone, but the memories that came from your collective visions and hard work will live on forever. May you carry them forth into your new adventures.
To all the former Ferrymen who worked behind the scenes to kill my own child and laughed at our pain: Ut sementem feceris, ita metes.

Without the Ferrymen taking a chance on cultivating me as a leader I would have never been able to step into my roles in the Republic. Pea, Jean, and others made a lasting impact on me and how I taught fledglings.
I know all too well the pain of letting go your passion from a place of love. After the initial grief of loss, I hope the memories can bring you comfort in the months to come
My sincerest condolences to Vex, O, and others who made the difficult choice to extinguish those lamps a final time.
Love,
A former Corridor Magister

While a very sad day indeeed, the future is very much wide open. My time in The Ferrymen was a very brief one, a very long time ago - but introduced me to some of the greatest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing in this city. I hope those remaining members find and forge themselves new paths of their own making and wish everyone all the best for the future. This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
