Challenge: Writing As A Hostile Act

Okay, yeah, I don't mean actually hostile, but Mommy Didion said what she said and I was wondering how many stories have been lost in the history of RBC lore because people were too afraid of sharing their characters' stories for whatever reason.

So here's the challenge.

If your character(s) have/has some closure they need; if your character(s) have/has some vendetta; if they were doomed by the narrative; if they have their own philosophies they'd like to rawr out; if you'd like to tell their side of the story in any sort of conflict, interpersonal or otherwise, I want to read it. 1000 words max, please.

Please post it on the Ab Antiquo and link the thread here if you'd like to make an entry.

Can be any POV, past tense, present tense - whatever.

I'll pick 1 winner by after 31 August 2024. Prize will be a 1-year subscription to Discord Nitro or an equivalent 1 year subscription to any service of your choice, so long as it's about the same price as a yearlong sub of Nitro (which I think is USD $99.99 per year?). Could even be Amazon gift cards or someshit if ya want. IDC.

Cheers!

ETA: One submission per person please, although if you write several threads in this vein, feel free to link them here and just indicate which thread is your official submission to the challenge/contest. Thank!

BTW, Rosalin Cartwright says about memory: “Memory is never a precise duplicate of the original… it is a continuing act of creation."

(Cool essay: https://www.themarginalian.org/2016/11/ ... nn-memory/)

Which means: PLEASE. Please do not have a go at anyone because their character's version of events does not 100% coincide with your characters' or yours. Memory is so tricky and fickle.

Lol. Please do not have a go at anyone for IC stuff. It's mad weird. It is not cool. Peace and love.

We are too old for this shit. Lol. <3

Are multiple submissions allowed or just one per participant?

I have a few ideas for this and I'll likely write them all either way, I just want clarification.

Multiple submissions would be kinda hectic for me; school’s coming back in session next week. Let’s stick to one sub per person.

But if you write multiple threads in this vein, you could def link em here if you want and indicate the one that’s an official sub to this contest/challenge.
