viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1650&start=150 - "There's more than just her, too - her family, or our family. A patchwork of fierce souls, each of us holding onto each other because no one else can. I know if I fall, I'll leave a hole in their hearts, the same kind I carry for those I've lost. Would they understand? Would they forgive me for letting go?
But what if I stay awake and fail them? What if my love isn't enough to keep them safe? I've seen enough of this world to know that love can't always stop the monsters. And yet - if I don't try, who will?"
Ma'am? OW? I love this. The emotions - so complex - and yet you never fall into the trap of melodrama and overstating feelings. You let the feelings speak for themselves.
Actually wept and went through two tissues three tissues apparently because I'm not done crying yet. Thank you so much. That hit me hard and it hit good. (If you're curious, it is technically IRC RP, i.e. played out in chat.)Oberon wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 3:01 amviewtopic.php?f=15&p=59167#p59167
This. Obviously. IDK if Mictian's writer is reading this, but the way that this reads like a published novel is SO exciting and so rare for forum RP. Everything is so vivid, and the interaction is so genuine. Dialogue is bomb. Characters are bomb. Ambiance is excellent.
If you've not read this, especially if you're a younger RB writer, you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD. Legends meeting legends. Please give it a try, you won't regret it.
I do write actual books these days (link to sample blurb edited in later!), incidentally, although not about vampires, and only in my spare time. Still making my living as a software engineer. Yawa needs to write a book, though; they're an absolute bombshell of a writer.[15:25] <Dread> <3 Appreciated! I got very emotional while writing it, honestly. Tied into my own feelings; Yawa has been exceptionally kind to me, after all, and I didn't want to mess with their vision. The question Mictian asks himself - is it okay to be vulnerable on the wall of someone who admires you? - that's very me, too. I don't have an answer, but I'm grateful it worked out this time.
An absolute treat to both have you around enough to still give this little corner of the internet some attention, and moreover writing with Nikki—someone who I personally consider to be one of the best writers in this community. You two have made my year.pinkgothic wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:33 amActually wept and went through two tissues three tissues apparently because I'm not done crying yet. Thank you so much. Was just saying this on IRC:

Gets absolutely zero argument from me! <3
Right back at you. Thank you for helping 2024 end on a banger. Absolutely honoured.
I just read that! I really enjoyed it—it has a Frank Herbert vibe to the writing style that I really like.pinkgothic wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:13 pmGets absolutely zero argument from me! <3

(I dropped a little sample of something into the General Writing board's Poetry/Non-Rp thread. It's not Ravenblack Vampires, but I think it might strike some of the same chords, and I came across it while looking up something while writing two scenes for my current work-in-progress novel earlier. Seemed like a good thing to share. <3)
