aaaathankyousomuch you all are gonna make me blush.
basically it goes like:
1. pick background
2. find image of FC that goes with the vibe you're aiming for. (normally, i'm not a fan of this photo, but i saw the opportunity to use the highlights to my advantage here.)
3. combine photos. trim around FC, and add several layers to start trying to blend it into the background in a seamless way (see: around the shirt)
4. paint! paint a lot. spend an hour painting in the eye glow.
5. ask lyssa and romi and snivy for insight (progress shot!)
6. by this point, i had about... 20-some layers?
7a. make 50 more layers doing subtle color adjustment after contrast after brightness after shadow after subtle color adjustment to make a mask to make the weird purple in that first picture match with the image i eventually used for the avi. unfortunately, this step did compromise the smoothness of the gif frames, but i liked the outcome too much to revert. compensate by adjusting every frame of the timeline to a slightly different duration.
7b. cry into your cat. a lot. laugh as he tried to repeatedly chase your cursor on your tablet.
6. spend an hour making text you end up not liking
7. eventually settle on painting on blood splatter to match the red colorpicked from the avi post-mask.
8. erase the background on the avi. resize the main background gif, reposition based on composition of the circle in the corner and just general gut feeling until you like it.
9. spend 3 layers on text and color adjustment layers.
10. make 10+ layers with different textures that you add to both (cross copying within photoshop to make sure the opacity/fill ratio is the same)
11. make sure every single layer propagates from frame 1 for the gif. (you don't want one random frame being the wrong color, slightly in a different position, etc.)
12. get thumbs up from aforementioned friends and post!
ps: if someone smarter than me can help me figure out why my gifs wont export unless i use the save for legacy (which fucks the dpi so hard), let me know pls
